How many of you have seen or used the Stationery feature on Yahoo!7 Mail? Our Yahoo!7 Mail Stationery allows you to get creative with your emails by adding a funky background theme to your email and also makes your emails stand out from the crowd.

Stationery can take on another dimension during special events, so on this Halloween why not send someone a scary (though not too scary!) email complete with spooky stationery? There’s a whole series of themes available ranging from abstract and arty to pretty and psychedelic, you’ll definitely find one to suit the mood of your mail!

Currently the stationery feature is only available in the all-new version of Yahoo!7 Mail, so if you’re using Yahoo!7 Mail Classic and want to use stationery then why not switch over to a 21st Century experience.

Let us know what you think of the Stationery feature… Is it good, bad or ugly? Are there any themes you would like added? Send us your suggestions, we’ll listen.

All the best,
Will – Yahoo!7 Mail Team

So how do I use Stationery?

We’re glad you asked!

Firstly, you need to make you are using the All-New Yahoo!7 Mail rather than Classic. If you need help on how to switch, check out Sabrina’s post over here.

Next, you need to click on “New” as seen below, to compose a new email:

stationery1.jpg

Then click on the “Stationery” option that is seen to the right-hand side of your new email message. This will slide the Stationery options down the right of your email message.

stationery2.jpg

Simply clicking on any of the thumbnail pictures on the right will then apply that particular stationery to your message.

stationery3.jpg

By selecting the “Featured” link, you will be able to navigate to other categories and choose more cool stationery to spice up your emails. Choices include, amongst others, animals, flowers, holidays, sports or patterns!

Below, you can see an email I am currently composing to my Mum, using the Yahoo!7 Liam blowing heart bubbles. Do you think she will like it?

Now it’s time for you to go and check it out! Be sure to come back and let us know which one’s your favourite :)

Happy Emailing,
Kate – Yahoo!7 Mail Team

    Hey there Codey,

If you have have turned stationery on, and then logout and come back later, it will still be turned on next time you compose an email.

    Thanks for your feedback! :)

I love using the stationery. It makes email writing even more pleasurable. I was especially thrilled to discover it on the new Yahoo because the previous stationery from ‘Fun Web’ stopped working. I can still use the other ‘Fun Web’ features – just not the stationery, so the Yahoo version was a Godsend!!! My mother thinks I am artistic – little does she know how simple it is to change text colours and click on the different backgrounds!!!

Maybe a night sky one? With stars and the moon and stuff?
We could be able to create our own stationary with our own pictures and images! It would be a unique stationary.

I think stationary is great ! I would like to be able to use a photograph as stationary but faded like a watermark. That would be VERY COOL ! That way you could have a pic of the person you are sending the email to or one of yourself and your email friend together to really personalise your emails. Thank for the op to air my view.

  • 13. Mark Gregory&hellip  |  October 21st, 2008 at 1:43 pm

    Hi Team,

We use the Yahoo!7 email account for our not for profit assoication and I would like a semi corportate group of stationary so that we can use it for the association. All the rest is good for fun/friends/family but no good for that usage. Based around your motif and left hand edge margin types (eg laces under sport). I would be really happy to use that type.

Also could an import funciton be built in so that it could be personalized. Yes I can see some of the issues of copyright and obcenity from your point of view but it’s a thought.

All in all about 9/10 for the implementation.

    Regards….mark

    Hello,
For a long time I have been wanting to pretty up my emails but didn’t know how so I’m delighted you have created the stationary option, but more choices would be good. And remember not all your users are young so some styles that would appeal to older people would be terriffic. Would also really appreciate it if you would add other things to help us make our emails attractive and interesting. I would love to be able to include beautiful pictures in the body of the emails as well, and could we have a clip board type method to store them so we can access our own little collection picutres (or yours). Clip art would be good. And more upmarket emoticons and other little character type things to put in. I very much hope you are able to do these things as making my emails more attractive would give me a lot of pleasure. Thank you. Warm regards

  • 32. Kaz&hellip  |  November 22nd, 2008 at 7:19 am

    I love the pandas!
It would be great to have an “add custom” feature but you would need to give us instructions on what file type and size to use (for those of us who bother to actually read)!

It is odd that when someone replies, the stationery drops out, but I’ll get over it.
Can we submit our own for you to add to the application, maybe?

PS: I love having a “proper” email address. Really helped me in getting my funky new job. Thanks Yahoooooooooooo! K:)

  • 37. Michael Herzog&hellip  |  November 28th, 2008 at 4:42 pm

I wish they could start a L or P plate club of sorts
so that older/newer users of these systems could
be able to understand and master them easier!!!
All these free things are great, however, unless you are a child or teenager currently going to school, you have not had exposure and access to
much of the new or even older technology that is
currently being offered. You really should think about older Australians and indigenous australians who have had very limited exposure to this equipment; and perhaps offer some type of
    navigation through it.

    yeah. so. i have stationary.
    but i want more options.
and one of the people who send me mail has different stationary than me. how can i change what stationary i have. because i don’t like my options (i don’t want abstract and sports and crap) and he keeps sending me cutesy letters with sanrio (hello kitty, etc) charcters, which would be better suited for me.
so, how is the basis of who gets what stationary determined?
and i really want new statioanry!

  • 51. Eleanor&hellip  |  February 13th, 2009 at 10:54 pm

Isn’t it nice if we can upload our own stationery. I mean, what if I would like to personalize my stuff and I’d like to have my picture as the background.. hmmm..

@Ed and @xtine – Hi there, at the moment no, you cannot add your own stationery template to Mail. But that’s a great idea. ;-)

How can I keep “Stationery” off the screen and retrieve it only when I want it? It’s there all the time on the e-mail screen…It takes up too much space and my e-mails are crowded. I know when I select “forward” the option is there to get it off.
Otherwise It’s a nice feature, especially around the holidays and thanks for it..
