Switching back to Classic – Updated post!
October 16th, 2008 Filed in: All-New Mail,Hints & Tips 72 comments
If you still prefer to use the Classic version of Yahoo!7 Mail, you can easily switch back to that version at anytime.
In order to do that you have to be logged into mail, then you should just click the “Options” link and then select “Mail Classic”:
You will be prompted with the pop-up window shown below where you should click the button “Switch to Yahoo!7 Mail Classic”:
And that’s it – you are now back in Classic Mail.
If you didn’t like the all-new version why not let us know why.
Happy emailing,
Tasla – Yahoo!7 Mail Team

I can’t get any mail page to load, so swithing back is impossible, it should be an option on the sign-in page as to which mail you use.

I can sign in to my Yahoo!7 account but once there I cannot reply, forward, create new email or switch to the Yahoo Classic. I can only read emails and deleted them. I have emailed the customer service and only got an automatic email about managing the sign in. Please help!

This is an outrageous event in Email HISTORY why would you have a product that is GREAT!and then change it? Get so many complaints to change it back to it’s orginal format, then to find out it’s completely deleted or impossible to change back. I guess I’ll have to delete my account with YAHOO, because it won’t allow me to choose which format I feel most comfortable using for my e-mail account This is sad!!!!

I am a “Newby” but I have NEVER had SO MUCH TROUBLE accessing mail before. You have the BEST mail service I have seen yet. “My Page” has Never looked so good- but- WHY is it SO HARD to access mail?

I can’t reply to or forward emails. Nor can I switch back to classic view!
It seems to me that yahoo doesn’t get along with the Mac world very well. I no longer have a PC in my home and my patience with yahoo is quickly disappearing. In the past I could switch back to classic view and my email would work fine with Safari, now i can’t even do that… the only time I can access my mail without frustration is from my work PC… a real inconvenience if I’m at home (holidays, weekends and evenings are out)!
Unless something happens quickly, its time I give this once loved mail program the flick.

Such a relief to hear that I am not the only one! I have gone to great lengths to remedy this problem. Was given the impression that my computer was the problem. Glad to have read the above before throwing anymore time or money at it. How frustrating! No option but to give yahoo the flick! They have not been helpful at all.

I’m finding the new email yahoo7 a touch confusing I would prefer the classical method.

Ditto to all the above. I am so fed up with not being able to access the classic view. The new version is just a constant frustration and will have to change to another email account if it can’t be fixed.
14. Lee&hellip | May 26th, 2009 at 10:51 am
Yahoo mail change as of Memorial Day Weekend will NOT reply, which I NEED, nor will it allow me to SEND an email, which I NEED.
What’s going on. The pull down menus DO NOT pull down.

What a bloody shamozzle. This is the 2nd time you have tried to improve something that did not need improving and so we have again one big stuff up. For goodness sake return it to the way it was and leave it there. As it is now nothing works and nobody can read their mail. I am turning my friends off using Yahoo because you never had it right nor will you ever. Remeber if it ain’t broke – then don’t fix it

Problems I had with the new mailbox were rectified, however suddenly nothing is working again. This is very frustrating!

That’s great but it doesn’t STAY switched – Yahoo! used to have an option at the top of the new page to seitch back to the classic Yahoo home page, but that has apparently been removed. Why can’t Yahoo stop messing with a great product. Well, it WAS great – now it stinks. I’ve given my feedback – are they listening??

I DO NOT like the new Yahoo. If I cannot have the classic I will definitely go to another homepage!
34. Inga&hellip | November 7th, 2009 at 11:39 am
I just hate, hate and hate new version of yahoo. Yahoo Classic was simple and quick, and eye catching. New version has got a lot of crap on it and does not look even attractive. All the time I was able to switch to Classic Yahoo, when I opened web.
Today I opened yahoo, and “Switch to Classic Yahoo” at the end of right side of web page was not there anymore. I think yahoo should give people a choice and should not decide for them what version to use, and should not remove option to switch to Classic Yahoo.
Some people may be fine with new version, but some prefer classic version. But it seems that yahoo developers have decided for everyone in ahead. They think that everyone should like the new version of yahoo. But as it proves it is not a case. But do they actually even read people comments, do they really care about people opinions?

I am concerned that I have been switched to the new Mail with out my knowledge, It would seem that someone is determind to decide what is best for me. If this is not stopped I shall be forced to consider changing my provider.
40. Mark G.&hellip | December 10th, 2009 at 8:03 am
I wish you folks at Yahoo would stop messing with something that works great then try to force everyone to use it, which is SUPPOSED to be new and improved, but isn’t!
The Classic email was great. Put your developers to work on things that need fixing …. NOT keep changing things just for the sake of changing things!

I am using yahoo mail for business and am fed up because you have changed it and it doesn’t work. I can’t get the options popup to come up above the advert so can’t move back to Classic. The new display means all the selection buttons look crossed out and have no colour – what have you done to it all! Please sort ASAP or I will have to move to a different mail system!

@ Marie – Hello Marie, you cannot run Classic Mail on the iPad. Have you read our recent post about how to get Yahoo! Mail on the iPad? It’s here: http://www.ymailau.com/blog/2010/08/20/yahoo-mail-for-the-ipad/
This version of Yahoo! Mail for the iPad was built in HTML5, which is the same technology used in the mobile versions of Mail for the iPhone and Andoid phones. I am sorry to hear you didn’t like it and unfortunatelly, you won’t be able to get Classic on your iPad.

For gods sake!!! I was trying to open another yahoo account in another window and ended up changing my first accounts style. I’ve tried changing to Yahoo mail classic in the options but it just stays with this horrible one. I’;m starting to think that tyhis is what people consider to be the classic when in fact mine was an even earlier version. It’s doing my head in. I didn’t ask it to do that SO WHY DO IT?!?!? Just typical of internet companies – A la Google. All I want is my old yahoo email page back exactly how it was. Why should that be such a problem? There’s loads of new stuff on there I simply don’t need or want.
