probably the worst video of computer comms evolution I have ever seen.
It started a bit before IBM XT’s and bulletin boards

If Yahoo are all for celebrating 25 years of online communication then why are they closing Geocities?

That’s destroying an important part of the history of the internet!

    Shame on you Yahoo!

Please tell me it was made in America. It’s too glib and full of cliches to have been made by Australians.

It’s a good video but not excellent. I don’t know why you guys decided to feature only yahoo ‘products’ in a video about online communications in general, surely there’s a lot of ‘history’ missing there!

Yahoo!7 Mail is the best, not like that over rated Hotmail or the cheap imatation email site gmail.com…

Google overall is so lame, they are like a unpopular kid at school trying to fit so they wear their pants low, and sloutch alot.
Except in this case they make gMail and that web brower I can’t be bothered knowing about.

    -.-

    How True
    How Slow it was
    We put up with it
It was The NEW Dimension DIAL UP
    How we have progressed from
    CRYSTAL SET RADIO reception
    Before Radio
Before TV even Black & White TV
    Before SPUTNIC
    The first Human Launched Satelite
Before Phenolic & Vinyl Music Players
Videos Beta & VHS & Stereo Sound
    DVideo’s & Sound CD
    Ipods etc
Most of those reading this would not know what all this comunication history is about.

I thought that Yahoo might have brought us an interesting mini-doco on the progression of personal computing. At least, that’s what it advertised, and why I thought that this piece of drivel promised.

However, what it brought us was a self serving mini ad, congratulating itself on its achievements, and aimed at the lumpenmasse unable to discern reality from “reality” and even less capable of being able to spell or get grammar right.

Boring, and a total waste of time.

is incredible!!!! I remember when there was a few pages online and there was netscape!!!!! and you could get an email address with out having to come up with a very long and crazy name!!!! the web has change the world….. and is going to get even better!!!!

  • 29. Diane  |  May 26th, 2009 at 11:07 am

Online communication began in basic form in the 1961, CTSS. Email was started in 1965 by ARPANET
So online communucation is older than 25 years. Just not used by general public

I thought this was a great little video, the music was also pretty catchy too (is it a real song? probably not).

It just goes to show how far we really have come in the last 25 years, although I’m pretty young I still find it fascinating to learn about the history of communications and how it has evolved.

Yahoo should definitely keep doing videos like this celebrating other significant milestones.
