Happy Birthday to us!

One year ago today on the 1^st of October, 2008, this Blog was launched!

It’s been an amazing year for us here at Yahoo!7 since launching the Blog and interacting directly with you, our users. Our readers have grown in leaps and bounds!

In true Australian fashion, what’s a birthday without a  party and cake! I’m sure many of you would have fond memories growing up with a cake made by your parents, grandparents or other friends and relatives. My Mum’s speciality when my siblings and I were little, was Sesame Street themed ones!

So I present you with my attempts at cooking: homemade chocolate cakes, with Nutella for icing and decorated with Smarties. Please excuse the decorations, it got a little bit messy, I literally had chocolate all over me. They may not look much, but our extended team enjoyed them immensely. We even had members of other teams sneaking up for a piece!

Speaking of our team… We thought we’d give you a little bit of an idea as to what our team does here at Yahoo!7 other than just being names on this Blog. The main focuses of our team are Mail and Messenger, which you are aware of; but did you know we also are responsible for Groups and Flickr in Australia? Our team consists of Tasla, Tim and I, headed up by Morgan. So expect to hear more from us and other members of our larger team in the coming months!

A special thank you also to Andrew who is responsible for the Yahoo! Mail blog and to Sarah who is responsible for the Yahoo! Messenger blog, for all their help and support over the past year. Andrew especially was instrumental in much of the behind the scenes work with the launch, we couldn’t have done it without you!

Looking ahead to 2010 and beyond, we can promise many exciting, new and informative posts from us on a regular basis.
